Note: The below review is only on movie, nothing personal to any one.

This movie is of great disappointment after such hype ( Not worth for such hype, just marketing stuff – bullshit bluff, liars )

I was eagerly waiting to watch this movie for a long period and finally attended premiere show of this movie with great expectations. Kamal did fair job in all 10 roles and people can watch this movie to see kamal and tsunami graphics at end of movie.

Regd Story – believe me, it is completely bullshit and ridiculously stupid. For the first 20 minutes, am wondering whats happening on screen and felt that there was no connection with previous frames( esp 12th century episode). Also playing with Lord Srinivasa idol like a ball, really hurts many feelings.

Wow!!! What a gr8 review. Your review is as good as the movie…Which is boring, unintelligent at best. What a waste of 3 hrs on a weekend.

Movie is not great, but better than an ordinary tamil movie. 10 characters was a good try. Anyone can get an expensive make-up, but to have the body language and talent, Kamal is the best. The movie doesn’t really satisfied many, even myself. Huge expectation I guess. Some parts like the ending tiny love scene, ending song by KS Ravikumar is nonsense. Overall, it’s like preparing a western cuisine for village indian…. the won’t know nor appreciate it. Good luck to kamalji next time. Anyway, you are still the best!

Dear sir, Just understand the story line first b4 making any comments. Kamal has done a stupendous performance. If you dont even understand the Story line and wouldnt able to relate the 12th century Vishnu statue to the Tsunami then just dont do a review. Kamal states “Chaos Theory” in his first scence and shows the Butterfly in the Climax too… just read the theory and come back.. Kamal is intellectual, just dont blame on him blindly. As “The Hindu” stated Dasavatharam is an EPIC…

Appreciate man!!!.they have done their best. Its simple hard work. What to expect more.he is god or what.Think stupid KURUVI-nonsense BILLA-All hero oriented fantasy movies…not to mention-So people love only fallthu world. Not real action, dedication.
Indian people like masala.go for it.That our taste.Comedy is good.religion killed people earlier…now technology.
May be they had lack of time to point out more.Could have given imporatnce to relate that. Its not kamal or KS fault.
love it!!!.its fun.A reward is appreciation.

What a stupid movie. Money well trashed and time of the viewers wasted.

I cannot even tell how horrible every bit of this movie is. Kamal should rethink his next story selection and crew.

  • Reddy June 17, 2008, 2:54 am

Kamal is great and Tamil movies are always experimental with using technology in Indian movie

  • Kamal June 17, 2008, 7:57 pm

What a waste of my time (3 hours) and $12.00. Story is so bad, even a 3 year old thinks it is unbeleivable. Dont think this will set any standards to cross!! Photography alone or added loud music does not make a great movie. Any actor can act more than 20 rolls in one movie. He or she is acting one role only at a time. Whats the big deal!

  • s.s.sureshkumar June 18, 2008, 12:38 pm

The movie is sure will set the benchmark for other tamil movies. i agree with ragesh’s comments. so dont blindly comment that the film is not good , and you need to have brain and patient to understand kamals film . it is always easy to criticise others , but also dont forget that we have got only one kamalahasan in tamilnadu. hats off to you kamalji, the new trendsetter.

Come on.. understand butterfly effect …then watch the movie…

    ————butterfly effect—–

This artistic representation of global warming poses the questions “when?” and “what will happen to the world’s oceans?” Melting of ice found in glaciers, ice shelves, icebergs, and sea ice is the most common expectation, but other possible effects are equally far-reaching. The butterfly represents the so-called “butterfly effect,” the principle associated with mathematical chaos theory, which says that small changes in initial conditions can lead to very great ones in the final phenomena; hence, accurate prediction becomes impossible.

  • sanju June 19, 2008, 2:36 am

Cmon, u first understand butterfly effect – see movies like babel, crash, butterfly effect, frequency (chaos theory). U will know how decent and neat they are made, and message potrayed in 100 minutes. This movie is pure nonsense – its like we read half baked in exams and write some nonsense. Kamal has half undesratood chaos theory and put some crazy script. See these movies before u comment

  • PRASHOB June 21, 2008, 11:18 am

awesome movie!! great story never before told in indian cinema….but people are dumbos here they say no story…..its based on chaos theory…even the vry first scene and last scene hav direct link

  • SHEKHAR June 21, 2008, 11:36 am

Actor Kamal Hassan’s quest for Oscar award is widely known; that he will stoop to any low in that direction is proved by his latest film titled ?Dasavataram?. Having seen this film in a prominent cinema hall recently, I feel disgusted to say that the film deserves to be totally banned from public exhibition on several counts. First and foremost, the word ?Dasavataram? is considered sacred and very much part of Hindu culture relating to Lord Vishnu’s reincarnations primarily for destruction of evil; the word any sane man born and brought up in Hindu culture easily understands. It is ironical that this actor has dared to title his film with the noble name which invokes instant veneration and what one actually see or feel is narration of his version of events essayed in his perverted mind, in the name of freedom of expression, without caring two hoots about the impact it is going to make on public mind especially in India. This so-called versatile actor has miserably failed in his attempt to portray ‘secularism’ as he supposes and understands by choosing to portray other major communities in the country like Christians, Muslims and Sikh as do-gooders and that only Hindus are religious fanatics, right from the very first frame of the film. He has further shown that individuals belonging to international communities including NRIs are bent upon leashing acts of terror on fellow human beings in other parts of the globe, for the sake of gathering wealth and in the name of science & technology. In his colossal misadventure he has even involved the current President of the United States of America by mimicry as well as the known atheist Chief Minister of Tamilnadu in his current official position, as also a fleeting portrayal of past Chief Minister Ms. Jayalalitha by showing her aerial survey of Tsunami hit areas during December 2004, all obviously for the sake of seeking cheap publicity.

The picture titled ‘Dasavataram’ is truly an example of gross misuse of freedom of expression, not confining to ethical standards expected of an esteemed actor like Kamal Hassan and his reputed team, and as such it should be banned in toto from public exhibition.

We must understand that the Tamil movie CGI technology is not that advanced. As such the CGI effects are a bit choppy and bad in some places.
The makeup is perfect for all the native characters, but it isn’t fool-proof for the foreign characters, such as the Japanese, American, Bush and the Afghan. (Bush and the Afghan are alright though). I think this could’ve easily been overcome with clever lighting and such.
Speaking of lighting and camera works, it appears to be too plain, like it was done under a fluroscent lamp. Perhaps there was a reason, why the lighting was kept simple. A complicated lighting and such would have made it a daunting task, placing 3 or 4 Kamal characters in the same frame. Given this understanding, if you watch the movie in the frame work of a Tamil movie you will have a good time. This movie is a great feat.

Kamal makes a good impression of Bush. A good one. And the other American character is sort of the hollywood b-movie types. A good body-language and American accent on that one too.

Kamal speaks Japanese. Since I don’t speak Japanese, I couldn’t comment on that. But I can only say that it sounds like real Japanese. He even performs Aikido like a real pro. Atleast, he looks like a pro, with his stiff body posture and fluid grappling manoeuvres.

I can go on and on.

Go see the movie. Take your family with you.

  • Madhu June 23, 2008, 3:28 pm

    I agree with Selvam.
    Good review mate.

  • Hari June 24, 2008, 10:36 am

At all the above who says the movie is extremely bad. Its easy to comment as stupid like what you people did(i’m taking about negative comments), but tough to act brilliant like him or even think like him. If you cannot appreciate his effort first then please don’t comment on his movie. May be all you legends, super hero, tomorrow’s superstars like the performance of Vijay’s kuruvi but not an mind blowing performance from an actor. If he can jump 1 KM away in air and get in a train in motion why can’t Kamal relate 12th century and now that with proof called chaos theory. Read it guys as some one said above. Understand the movie then make a review, he has clearly convinced the message from the movie which you people will never understand. Regards to all who made negative reviews. Think before what you write. “Things can be easy said than done”

  • Salamander June 24, 2008, 8:11 pm

To put it kindly, the average dumb jerk prefers to watch hot and skimpily clad babes getting screwed on the screen.

Movie was class and elegantly made. Only for people who can %% think %% and not for asses who watch the same movie with different titles (yes, I’m referring to Mr.Vijay’s mental films).

And I dare any fat-ass out there to contradict me!

  • Salamander June 24, 2008, 8:12 pm

And Sekhar, you’re an ass man. Certified by Bush!

Posting the same crap all over the net.

  • vijayc June 26, 2008, 1:08 am

To come up with a good movie what Kamal needs are an editor, producer, director, and music director who are as extremely talented, egoistic, intelligent, arrogant and uncompromising as Kamal. Unfortunately, “Dasavatharam” doesn’t fit into one of Kamal’s good movies. Better luck next time, Kamal.

  • laxmikanth June 30, 2008, 1:31 pm

if u dont understand the film’s storyline then u have not improved urself to a standard which requires understanding a movie of superior standard..

    thats it!!!

  • Srini July 7, 2008, 3:05 pm

Frankly the film has failed to enthuse me. Though Kamal may be a genius yet to understand the story line I had to search the web to know about chaos tehory or the buttrfly effect. One cannot expect every audience to posses enriched knowlege as is expected by some commentators in this site. Whatever movie you make, the great efforts go waste if it fails to connect with the people instantly. As regards the 10 avatars performed by Kamal, barring two or three, the rest could have been performed by some other actors.

  • kamal fan October 5, 2008, 3:43 am

  • ashok poduval November 20, 2008, 1:50 am

I thought it was a great movie though I had to see it twice to grasp the whole concept. And the more I see the more I like the attempt made by dare I say the most gifted actor of our times( America and India combined!!!)

  • Mani October 27, 2009, 12:17 pm
