Sitemeter Crashes Internet Explorer

For the past 2 hours(6.30 AM IST) you would not have able to access our site using Internet Explorer Browser (IE), we apologize for the trouble.

We discovered that the SiteMeter our tracking code that counts visitors to our site was causing the Internet Explorer to crash. SiteMeter is bringing down every site where its counter code placed. It only crashes IE.

The text of the error is Internet Explorer cannot open the internet site. As of now we removed the code and will place it once it is resolved by sitemeter.

Again, We apologize for the inconvenience caused.

Update – Issue Resolved

    I wrote about this a little earlier in the evening too. Amazing what kind of repercussions can happen when a big site goes down and takes half the internet with it…

    Thanks for the heads up. I was fixin’ to blow a gasket trying to figger out what was wrong with my internet machine.

    The programmers at site meter must not use the internet on the weekend! No weekends off for IT service providers LOL.
