Being born and brought up in Sydney, Vimala Raman entered her childhood passion of Bharthanatyam at the age of five.
In October 2004 Vimala won the crown for the Miss India Australia 2004 title, as well as the Miss India Australia CyberQueen title. This has seen her being awarded by the Australia India Business Chamber – the “Youth Ambassodor” title.
