The betrothal ceremony of Soundarya Rajinikanth with Ashwin Ramkumar was a simple event at a star hotel in Chennai on Wednesday. Special guest was TN Chief Minister M Karunanidhi.

The ceremony was attended by some of the big guns of Tamil film industry, including Rajini’s mentor K Balachandar, Director Shankar and lyricist Vairamuthu among others.

Rajini’s youngest daughter Soundarya Rajini’s engagement will be held at the Park Sheraton Hotel in Chennai Today.

Soundarya will exchanging rings with groom Ashwin Ramkumar, son of popular industrialist Ramkumar.

Rajini’s family personally invited TN Chief Minister Karunanidhi and AIADMK General Secretary Jayalalitha for the event.

Rajni’s daughter did not repay 1.6 cr – High Court stays release of her film

Soundarya Rajinikanth, daughter of Superstar Rajinikanth production venture Ocher Studio is in legal tangle. The Madras High Court on Tuesday granted an injunction restraining Ocher Studios and Gemini Colour Lab from releasing the Tamil film Goa till December 11.

According to Times of India report, Soundarya Rajinikanth has borrowed money from building contractor Varun Maniyan, sum of Rs 1.60 crore, of which Rs 1.10 crore was given from office funds and the remaining Rs 50 lakh was drawn from his personal funds. The interest rate is said to be 24 percent.

Manian said Soundarya had promised to repay the amount in full at the time of release of Goa, and added that though the post-production for the film was going on, there was no word about repayment of the loan. Continue Reading >>

Ileana in Rajini’s Sultan The Warrior

According to reports The flavour of Telugu cinema Ileana has been roped in to act in Sultan The Warrior. Sultan The Warrior is an animated film featuring Rajinikanth and being directed by Rajinikanth’s daughter Soundarya.

The movie is produced by Soundarya Rajinikanth’s Ocher Studios. A R Rahman is scoring the music. Sultan The Warrior is expected to release in April 2008.
