Sanjay Dutt is replacing Vikram in Mani Ratnam’s Next movie, which features star couple Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan.
Mani’s film pairs Sanjay Dutt and Aishwarya, interestingly not Abhishek and Aishwarya, as is widely assumed.
Ace director Maniratnam had first chosen Vikram, but he roped in Sanjay because he wanted a more popular face.
The 54th National Film Awards for the year 2006 were announced on Tuesday at Sashtri Bhavan in New Delhi.
Sanjay Dutt’s starrer “Lage Raho Munna Bhai” has bagged four trophies at the 54th National Film Awards — for providing wholesome entertainment.
The blockbuster movie got the award for the best popular film, best screenplay written by Abhijat Joshi, Raj Kumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra and the best lyrics which were created by Swanand Kirkire for the song “Bande Mein Tha Dum”.
To recall, “Munnabhai MBBS” had bagged similar honour in 2003.

The pretty young daughter of Kamal Hassan, Shruti Hassan who featured in Verve Magazine India Cover as “Rocking Debutante” recently, has signed her first Hindi film “Luck” which will be directed by Soham Shah. She will make her debut opposite Imran Khan , Aamir’s nephew.
The movie has top Bollywood stars such as Sanjay Dutt, Imraan Khan, Mithun Chakraborthy, Danny Denzongpa, Ravi Kisshen and Rati Agnihotri.
Luck will be produced by Shree Ashtavinayak CineVision Ltd. The music has been given by Salim Suleiman (Chak De! India). The entire shooting of ‘Luck’ will be done in South Africa from 8th July.
Earlier there were speculations that this soon to be actress is going to do a role opposite Madhavan to be directed by Nishikanth Kamat, However the project could not take off.
