Actor Dilip Kumar Gets Standing Ovation at National Awards
Bollywood veteran Actor Dilip Kumar received a standing ovation at the 54th National Film Awards ceremony when he was given the lifetime achievement award by President Pratibha Patil.
Apart from Dilip Kumar, the lifetime achievement award was also conferred to melody queen Lata Mangeshkar and actress B Saroja Devi to commemorate the 60th year of Independence.

Priyamani – National Award winner for Best Actress
Dada Saheb Phalke award, one of the high-status awards, will be presented to the renowned Bengali film-maker Tapan Sinha.

Priyamani wins National Award for Best Actress

Priyamani won the prestigious National Film Award for Best Actress for her performance in Ameer’s Paruthiveeran at the 54th National Film Awards announced in New Delhi.

Priyamani’s portrayal of a southern firebrand village girl ‘Muthazhagu’ has got national recognition. The climax scene of ‘Paruthi Veeran’ saw actress Priyamani at her very best. It was a performance to cherish.
Priyamani was born in Palakkad in 1984. She was brought up in Banglore. Priya Mani made her debut in Tamil as heroine in Kangalal kaithu sei in 2004 directed by Bharathiraja — critically acclaimed South Indian director.

Lage Raho Munnabhai wins National Award

The 54th National Film Awards for the year 2006 were announced on Tuesday at Sashtri Bhavan in New Delhi.
Sanjay Dutt’s starrer “Lage Raho Munna Bhai” has bagged four trophies at the 54th National Film Awards — for providing wholesome entertainment.
The blockbuster movie got the award for the best popular film, best screenplay written by Abhijat Joshi, Raj Kumar Hirani and Vidhu Vinod Chopra and the best lyrics which were created by Swanand Kirkire for the song “Bande Mein Tha Dum”.
To recall, “Munnabhai MBBS” had bagged similar honour in 2003.
Pulijanmam wins National Award

Priyanandan’s Malayalam film Pulijanmam, which stars Murali, bagged the award for the Best Film.
Pulijanmam the film, which highlights the struggle between oppressors and those who resist society?s exploitative forces, is based on N Prabhakaran?s play by the same name. It stars Murali, Sindhu Menon and Vineeth Kumar. Pulijanmam is the director?s second film after the critically acclaimed Neythukaaran.
