Reliance to buy Mani Ratnam’s Raavana ?

It is a very well known fact that Reliance Big Pictures was supposed to produce Mani Ratnam’s ‘Raavana’, which is a trilingual project (Tamil, Hindi and Telugu). But lately, we hear the production house has backed off due to unknown reasons and Mani Ratnam got going with the film under his own production (Madras Talkies).

Kurbaan director Rensil seeks his guru Mani Ratnam’s blessings

Gone are the days when filmmakers used to take their movie’s prints to religious places a little before the release of the film. Director Rensil D’Silva has plans of showing his debut film, Kurbaan, which releases next week, to his guru Mani Ratnam first.
Rensil wants Mani to see the film before anyone and else and then bless him. The director is a fan of Mani Ratnam and has worked with him on Raavana. Once the final print of the film was ready, Rensil decided that he wants Mani to see it.

Mani Ratnam Shooting stopped By Kerala Forest Dept, Violates Rules
Director Mani Ratnam who started the shooting of his Ravan in some beautiful locations inside the forest has been stopped by Kerala Forest & Wildlife Department.
Maniratnam’s forthcoming bilingual movie which stars Vikram, Abhishek Bachchan, Aishwarya Rai, Priyamani has been named as Ashokavanam in Tamil and Ravan in Hindi and Telugu.
It is believed that Maniratnam team had constructed temporary huts inside the forest in Malayatoor, where film shooting has not been allowed so far since it is prime spot for eco-tourism, 2 hours from Kochi.
It seems that Maniratnam has got about 20 days of special permission to shoot inside the prohibited areas, with some political connections.
Forest Department officials has stopped the filming and unit has been asked to vacate from the forest land once they found the temporary huts on the 5th day, since it violates the agreement with the Kerala Forest Department. As per the rules film unit are not supposed to erect any structures in such areas, film unit explained that it was done to keep their equipment if it rains. But officials canceled the granted agreement since it violates their rules.
Veteran film Director Mani Ratnam was not present when the forest officials visited the site and canceled the agreement.
Maniratnam Ravan Shooting in Kerala – Athirapally Waterfalls
Manirathan forthcoming movie tentatively title Ravan in Hindi and?Ashokavanam in Tamil will be shot in a forest near the famous Athirapally waterfalls, Kerala.

Film unit along with other artistes has already started the ground work in kerala and Mani Ratnam is finalising the locations. Abhishek and Aishwarya Rai is joining the unit very shortly.
Athirapally waterfalls in Keral is one of the top location for major blockbuster films in south India. Mani Ratnam’s Dil Se song Jiya Jale, and the Guru song Barso re were pictured at the Athirapally waterfalls.
This is a favourite location of film makers and is located at the entrance to Sholayar ranges. Athirappally Waterfalls is located 78 kms from Kochi (Cochin). The Athirappally falls join the Chalakkudy river after plummeting down 80 ft. The cool spray that covers a large area near the falls makes Athirapally a scenic location.

Media reports suggests that Mani Ratnam has titled his forthcoming film as Ravan.
