The function, which held at the Madras University had chief Minister M. Karunanidhi as the chief guest.

Sivaji is the 100th Tamil film of Rajnikanth in which the superstar teamed up with the director Shankar. Rajnikanth and Shankar teams up for another movie “Robot” (here is the Robot official announcement).

The film went on to become the first Tamil film ever to break into the UK Top 10, beating bigger Hollywood films like Fantastic 4 and Oceans 13.
