Ajith Kumar dosen’t replace Vikram in 24

Yaavarum Nalam ( Hindi – 13B) fame Vikram K Kumar was reported to have been drenched in trouble as actor Vikram didn’t report to him on the sets of ‘24’. Recently, there were rumours stating that Vikram has been dropped from the project with Ajith Kumar replacing him.

When approached the closer hands of Vikram Kumar, they stated that there’s some sort of issues running between Vikram and the filmmaker since the actor didn’t join the team for shooting, as he was busy filming for Selvaraghavan’s untitled next at Ladakh.

Finally, the filmmaker addresses the truth that issues have been sorted out between them and the project will successfully go on floors from Dec 2. “I was really puzzled reading news about Ajith Kumar replacing Vikram this film. For sure, I will work with Ajith Kumar in one of the projects after the completion of ‘24’…”

According to the sources, ‘Subramaniapuram’ fame Swathi has been paid Rs.60 Lakhs as her remuneration for this film.

Vijay’s Vettaikaran Releases on Dec 18th

Finally, the news is out straight from the shoulders of ‘Vettaikaran’ producers. It has been confirmed that the film will hit screens on Dec 18. The film is produced by AVM Productions and is directed by debutant Babu Sivan.

This is 49th movie of Vijay and Anushka pairing opposite him.

Ever since, the project was undertaken by Sun Pictures, it had furthermore raised everyone’s expectations as this production house acquires rights over the film that has good quality entertainment. Recently, there were buzzes that members of Sun Pictures had insisted Babu Sivan to reshoot certain sequences in the film since perfection was missing.

Though the producers haven’t revealed anything about the re-shoot, they’ve advertised about the film’s release date this morning. Since, most of the educational institutions will have Christmas holidays, the producers seems to have predicted that the film will have a great opening.

Vettaikaran features Vijay as an auto driver while Anushka does the role of a medical college student. Censor Board officials have passed ‘U/A’ certificate to this film for extreme violence in the stunt sequences.

Santosh Sivan to act opposite Radha’s daughter Karthika

Cinematographer Santosh Sivan is going to play Raja Ravi Varma in a Malayalam film, Magara Manju which will be dubbed in Hindi and English. Directed by Lenin Rajendran, the film will begin shooting at Cochin.

His co-star in the film, Karthika, is the daughter of yesteryear Tamil actress Radha. He likes the way their pair looks. Some parts of the film will be shot in Goa and Trivandrum.

Santosh has only acted once before; in Aditya Bhattacharya’s Raakh (1989) with Pankaj Kapur.

Kiran Rathod’s High School is based on Malena

Lingusamy to direct Vijay

Soon after completing ‘Vettaikaran’, Vijay has almost completed his first schedule for his 50th film ‘Sura’ directed by SP. Rajkumar. Meanwhile, buzzes have been rounding upon air that ‘Jeyam’ Raja may direct Vijay’s 51st film. But lately we could hear sources stating that Lingusamy has approached Vijay with a script.

Finally, Lingusamy himself clears it off confirming that he is going to direct Vijay’s next film. Interacting with media channels, Lingusamy has said that he is penning a script for Vijay, which would be an unusual action thriller. Plans are going on to make this film by utilizing the latest technical equipments…

At the moment, the filmmaker is busy shooting for Karthi-Thamannah starrer ‘Paiyya’ across sun-kissed beaches of Goa.

Make sure, if you’re watching K.S. Ravikumar’s film and don’t give in rooms for any rationality. The filmmaker never cares about logics and makes sure his hero is portrayed in larger than life roles. ‘Aadhavan’ doesn’t boast of anything exceptional in terms of storyline. Remember Rajnikanth’s ‘Thai Veedu’ –where the protagonist is misused by baddies to harm his own family members. Well, if you’re an ardent buff of Tollywood, one can find the traces of ‘Nandhavanam 120Kms’. Indeed, the guy over here has a long term memory loss after triggering bullets into his father’s chest while Surya doesn’t go through this problem.

Let’s start off with the film’s synopsis…

Aadhavan (Surya), a sharp shooter has never missed his target until now. But when he is assigned by Dr. Reddy (Rahul Dev) to bump off a magistrate Subramaniam (Late Actor Murali), ready to unveil the list of culprits involved in organ-racketeering of poor children. Unfortunately, Aadhavan misses his target on magistrate and now hatches plans to get into his house to accomplish this task. But every time, he concocts a fantastic plan to kill the magistrate, he’s fails terribly with it.

Does Aadhavan succeed with this mission or not forms crux of the story with a sudden twist in climax.

Surya plays his part well as directed by Ravikumar. But his dancing style remains the same in all the songs. As well the stunt sequences in assassination drama remind us of ‘Ayan’. In some comedy sequences, it’s more evident that Surya imitates Vijay. But it’s Vadivelu stealing the show with his fabulous comedy tracks. Indeed, he offers more substantiality to the film with best humour quotients. Nayanthara has nothing to perform and looks aged. Saroja Devi does justice to the role. Rahul Dev sleepwalks through his role and so does Shayaji Shinde. Late actor Murali excels with his usually seen overpowering performance.

Musical score by Harris Jayaraj fails to live up to expectations. Barring the title song and the final one ‘Hasiliye’, none of the songs seems to be enjoyable. The backgrounds score could’ve been yet better. Cinematography is exquisitely done while Don Max’s editing is sleek and stylish.

The first hour moves around with action, fun ‘n’ frolic while the latter part keeps dragging. Ramesh Khanna could’ve penned a yet more powerful story and the screenplay stumbles down halfway post-intermission.

‘Aadhavan’ is completely disappointing for those audiences who expected a lot from Surya. It’s a film not worth watching. But then, if you’ve already booked your tickets, make sure that you don’t get annoyed with dragging screenplay and insubstantial story.

Director Arun Vidyanathan had recently received a media guild award for creating awareness on child sex abuse.
