Oscar and Grammy award winner A R Rahman’s — “A.R. Rahman Jai Ho Concert: The Journey Home World Tour” tour is set to hit over 20 major arenas and cities worldwide, which will kick off the event in June at the Nassau Coliseum in New York, starting June 11 from New York and ending in London on July 26.

The Journey Home World Tour’, which will feature music from the film and tracks he was working on with Michael Jackson before the ‘King of Pop’ died.

During this period, he will reportedly have live concerts in USA, Canada , Netherlands, France , Norway, and United Kingdom; covering the cities of New York, Atlantic City, Washington DC, Chicago, Detroit, Toronto, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Dallas, Houston, Amsterdam, Paris, Oslo, Glasgow, Manchester, and London.

Produced by Deepak Gattani, the tour will travel to over 20 major arenas and cities around the world, including
The Forum in Los Angeles
The Patriot Center in Washington, DC
American Airlines Arena in Dallas, Texas
Wembley Arena and the O2 Arena in London

The show will feature changing sets, large images on LED screens and a spectacular cast of musicians.

Rahman’s VTV album – world premiere in London

Sony Music India’s has done a world premiere of A R Rahman’s Tamil album Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (VTV) in London on Dec 19. AR Rahman, Gautham Menon, Simbhu, Trisha and all the singers were present.

It is the first Tamil film for which AR Rahman had scored music after winning the Oscar award.

Directed by Gautham Menon Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa (VTV) stars Silambarasan and beautiful Trisha Krishnan in the lead roles.

VTV’s music CDs and cassettes will be released across the world via Amazon’s online retail store. The music will also be available digitally on iTunes, Nokia Store, and iPhone application.

VTV’s music service also will be available to any registered user of iPhone apps across the world. A user will be charged $1.99 for downloading the application facilitating unlimited streaming of the songs from the album and $2.99 to download the whole album.

Uses can use the unique iPhone app to stream and listen to the full-length songs from the film, download the songs, wallpapers and other movie related information. International faculty for Rahman’s KM Music Conservatory

Oscar winner musician A.R. Rahman (Slumdog Millionaire) has assembled international faculty at his world famous KM Music Conservatory.

Alison Maggart (harp) is from Tennessee (USA) and has attended Eastman School of Music (New York, USA). Michael Lindsey (percussion) is from Indianapolis (USA) and has studied at DePauw University in Indiana (USA). Kavita Baliga (soprano) earned her Bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Irvine (USA) and her Masters from Boston Conservatory (USA). Andrew Throdahl (piano) is from Middlebury College (USA).

Das Daniel (piano) attended Trinity College and Berklee College, both of London (United Kingdom). Joshua Pollock (violin), who was born in Canada and raised in the USA, completed his Master of Music degree from the prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London. Eilidh Martin (cello) gained her Masters from University of Rochester (New York) after attending Royal College of Music in London as a “foundation scholar”. George Philips (violin), who began his musical training under the guidance of Miriam Giannone and Netta Hadari, has performed at many venues in the United States and France.

Acclaimed Indo-American statesman Rajan Zed, in a statement in Nevada (USA) today, urged other renowned musicians of India to open more such conservatories to nurture and channelize the abundant musical talent of India and to showcase the richness of Indian music, elements of whose theory were first found in ancient Hindu scripture Sama-Veda.

The conservatory offers Preparatory Program (2-5 years), Foundation Program (1-2 years), and Degree Program (three years) under affiliation of Middlesex University in United Kingdom (UK), and has currently opened admission for its prestigious Diploma Course (two years). Sound editor Joe E. Rand (Titanic) has lectured here besides demonstration by Vienna Chamber Orchestra.

Founded by Rahman (who is also its Principal), KM Music Conservatory in Kodambakkam area of Chennai in Tamil Nadu state of India envisions expanding the horizon of musicians in India by offering education in both Indian and Western music besides music technology and its mission is to provide students with a strong artistic, intellectual, and technical foundation. T. Selvakumar is the Managing Director of this international school of music and music technology whose tagline is “Become the Future of Music”.

Rahman, who has reportedly recorded sales of over 300 million, was called “Mozart of Madras” by Time magazine. Rahman sees music “as a way to connect to spirituality and embrace it” and for “creating harmony in troubled times”.

The CNN IBN Indian of the Year 2009 award was given to Oscar Award winner Ace musician A R Rahman by Indian Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh.

Prime Minister Manmohan Singh sais that A. R. Rahman’s music is an inspirational. He added that when he heard his songs in the White House, he had a sense of joy and achievement.

“It is a triumph for music. I hope it inspires more people and lessens the divide,” said the Oscar winning music maestro.

A R Rahman was also declared the recipient of the CNN-IBN Indian of the Year 2009 in the Entertainment category.
