Reliance BigFlicks movie rental stores launched

Reliance ADAG’s BigFlicks has launched VCD and DVD movies rental stores in Mumbai, Delhi, Pune, Hyderabad, Bangalore and Chandigarh.

Movies can be ordered from the stores or through the net; they can be picked up or delivered free of charge.

BigFlicks claims to be India’s largest online and offline movie rental service, offering access to more than 14,000 titles. In addition to international movies, it has titles in Hindi, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, Punjabi and Kannada. The company also provides movie download and free streaming through its site bigflicks.com

Indian Ameircan, Noureen DeWulf opposite Matthew McConaughey

Variety reports that the 23-year old Indian Ameircan, Noureen DeWulf, ranked one of Maxim Magazine’s Hot 100 in 2007 is going to do lead role opposite Matthew McConaughey in “The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past“.

People magazine featured Matthew McConaughey as The Sexiest Man Alive in 2005.

Noureen DeWulf will play Matthew McConaughey’s assistant in The Ghosts of Girlfriends Past. The film will be directed by Mark Waters.

DeWulf played a small comedic role in Ocean’s Thirteen.

Thotta Tharani writes a book

Thota Tharani , one of the Indias best Film Art Director and a recipient of the National Film Award for Best Art Direction is now writing a book to tell his vast and colorful experience to the world.

He is also planning to publish the images of his sets created by him for various movies including Vikram’s forthcoming movie ‘Kathaswamy’.

Filipino film festival in Chennai

Filipino film festival was inaugurated at the South Indian Film Chamber of Commerce theatre, Chennai on February 18.

The 10-day film festival is being jointly organised by the Madras Film Society, Embassy of the Philippines, New Delhi, and the International Cine-Appreciation Foundation (ICAF).

Filipino film festival, which will be held between February 18 till February 27, will screen twelve films.

G. Santhanam, Religious Endowment and Information Secretary, Director Bharathirajaa , Sumathi Ravichandran, Director and Head of Branch Secretariat, Actress Swarnamalya, ICAF president S. Kannan and Madras Film Society general secretary G. Thangaraj participated in the programme and addressed the gathering.

Aamir Khan’s Ghajini beats Om Shanti Om distribution rights

The Economic Times reported that Hindi remake of the Tamil Ghajini starring Aamir Khan and Asin has earned an estimated Rs 90 crore by selling its distribution rights.

Aamir Khan’s Ghajini remake in Hindi has beaten SRK’s Om Shanti Om distribution rights. It was reported that Om Shanti Om distribution rights was sold to Eros Entertainment for Rs 73 crore.
